Welcome to Emerald Estates Water Association
and Emerald Green Park
Flushing and flow testing of the 9 fire hydrants in Emerald Estates will be performed in the near future. This will involve opening each fire hydrant fully and letting it flow for a short period of time to clear any sediment that has accumulated and to allow for flow testing. This is likely to cause water to flow on to properties adjacent to where the flushing is occurring. Flush time will be kept as short as possible. There is a possibility that the flushing process may stir up sediment (if any) in our distribution lines which could make its way to our taps. If you notice any sediment in your water following the flushing of the hydrants, run a water spigot such as in a bathtub or an outdoor spigot at a high flow rate for several minutes until completely clear. If it doesn’t clear up completely, wait about an hour and repeat the process.
Its important that all of our fire hydrants remain clear of obstructions such as vegetation to ensure immediate access by fire department personnel and to facilitate periodic hydrant flushing. 3’ of clearance is required around all fire hydrants. If a fire hydrant is located on your property, please take the time to make sure that it remains clear of obstructions.
If you have any questions, please contact the Association Secretary.
